Student Services

We provide support to students in their transition from elementary school, throughout the secondary school years and to college, university or the workplace. We have workers, who support students in making appropriate course selections and providing information on graduation requirements, post-secondary planning, and career opportunities.

Library Information Centre

The focus of the Library Information Centre at St. Ignatius College School is to encourage our students to become information literate and lifelong learners. The library is fully automated and secure. Students and staff are encouraged to use the library for academic purposes. The focus of the library information centre is to teach students to research efficiently and effectively.

Resource Department

At St. Ignatius College School, students who need additional academic support can access the services of the Resource Department, which assists students in variety of ways:  working with students within a classroom, providing a place to write tests and exams in a smaller setting, offering the Learning Strategies course, and developing students’ reading levels.

Enriched/ Gifted Program

The program is open to any student who wishes to participate in the many activities offered. These include Encounters With Canada, U of T Mentorship Program, Student UN Conferences, Canadian Club Luncheons and others. Gifted students assist in running the different school-wide initiatives: Teens Taking Action Against Impaired Driving, In the Driver’s Seat and many more.

The fundamental purpose of the computer studies program is to provide students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to achieve success in secondary school, the workplace and daily life.

Here at St. Ignatius College, we incorporate Canadian literary critic Northrop Frye’s belief that the underlying story of Western literature is a circular hero-quest that narrates the search for personal identity through four stories—romance, tragedy, irony and satire, and comedy.

English as a Second Language

The curriculum is designed to help students develop the skills they need to develop proficiency in everyday English, and most especially, the proficiency in academic English that will allow them to integrate successfully into the mainstream school program. ​

French as a Second Language

These programs provide students with challenging and varied opportunities to develop their French-language knowledge and skills. The content of each course is organized into four interrelated strands: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
